New (OLD!) Website!
New (OLD!) EP!
New (NEW!) Album!
New (NEW!) News!

Check out the new website! We've changed the layout a bit overall. Although it may not look too new to the untrained eye, behind the curtain everything is brand new and should better serve the band. We've also added a new section which will we will highlight some of our favs.

Looking over the music page, the dedicated will notice that a few songs which used to be on Based on a Fake Story are MISSING. Fear not, they aren't gone forever, they've just moved to their own History of Music EP. Millions of years summed up in just ten songs.

Paul and Mason are hard at work on a NEW ALBUM! I know it's been said many times but there are a few actual recordings in progress, so it's for real and the boys mean business. Armed with new software, better equipment, and higher levels of skill and maturity, they tell me they currently have their sights set for a 2010 release.

MAY 21st, 2009

Summer is here!

Next Tuesday, May 26th, we will release a bunch of songs about animals called THE WAR IN ARACH EP. It is a collaborative experiment between us (CATSCAN) and our British friends from across the pond (RICHY&GEORGIE). Paul and Mason agree, it is one of the weirdest things we have done in years.

The Catscan RPG Demo link finally works!

For those not in the know, Catscan has been developing a role playing game for the last decade or something. We made a stylistic choice to design a game in the style of those ancient SNES RPGs that you used to love!

Click here to get the new demo! Windows operating system required. You might be able to use Wine or something, though.

In other news, Catscan will play a private party for a dear old friend. I don't think you're invited. Maybe we'll repeat the show the next week at the usual spot, if you're really lucky.

April Fool Every One! I hope no one was too worried! I know I wasn't.

Catscan's been a little on the quiet side lately, but it is merely the calm before the storm that will be hereafter known as CATSCAN SUMMERSTORM 2009. We're still writing the new album and plan on recording it some time this summer with exciting new and better equipment (played by the same old guys). Speaking of Guys, sorry to scare ya, The!

Here's a track off the upcoming and currently untitled collaboration with brit brats RICHY & GEORGIE called Cats Can! We're not sure if they're talking about butts with that title, but we do know that it is based around a sample taken from the song Cat Speaks from our Future EP. It features the freestylin' of dead ex-vice president Agnew. HERE IT IS : Cats Can!

APRIL 1st, 2009

Attention ladies and germs!

Catscan is revamping its image! And part of that renovation was firing the old, corrupt CEO and replacing him with a much more stylish and corporately responsible man. Times are changing, and Catscan is changing right along with them. Expect music with a more down to Earth folky feel and less of that joke crap.

On a sad note. Paul has left the band. But we're looking for a new bassist, preferably stand-up.

FEBRUARY 16th, 2009

We're on the radio! Our good friend, Gonzi invited us onto his radio show, All Mixed Up! That's on VCU's college radio, WVCW. One could tune in on their physical radio the boring old fashioned way, or listen online through their website at http://www.wvcw.org

It isn't actually going to be live. We pre-recorded a few what we thought were good responses to what we considered to be hard hitting questions about the band and Jay's personal life.

We also recorded a few live 'street performer' versions of a few tunes, which were played on broken instruments and stuff that we found in Paul's apartment. Although we recorded four songs, we have NO IDEA which will be included in tonight's show! However, you can get 'em all right here, right now, in all their uncut and raw glory, in case you missed the show or are dying to hear what we tried to do!

JANUARY 3rd, 2009

Hey, it felt pretty good to write "2009" for the first time. Happy New Year Every Body! We're doing a small show tomorrow to celebrate the release of the new album, Road Shoe: b-Sides, and the new website, The Catscan Website.

Road Shoe, in case you haven't been paying attention, is a collection of songs that we recorded in-between Based on a Fake Story (2005) and William Henry Harrison (2006) as well as a few from various solo projects and other weird things. It used to be about twenty seven tracks, but we realized many of the demos and outtakes were just too cruddy and probably only interesting to us. Maybe someday more songs will pop up on the website.

Did I mention the website has every song from every album available for download? For free? You're gonna like this site! There are also links to our various blogs.

Paul wants everyone to know about Little Big Head, a collection of stories and memories of his childhood. It makes for a very interesting read. I know I get giddy every time there is an update! Be sure to check it, out if you like reading enjoyable content.
